Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Massachusetts

I recently received my security deposit and the accrued interest from an apartment I lived in for 6 years. Howver, I did not receive the interest from the last month check which was also deposited into the same escrow account. Is it legal for my landlord to withhold the interest? Also, if she does not return the interest, where can I file a formal complaint?

Functionally there may not have been any interest, or the amount would be minimal.

Personally, I think you are making a mountain out of nothing.

You are entitled to the interest, but it is not worth wasting your time or money. Assuming interest averaged 1% over the last 5 yrs and 11 months, and your deposit was $1,000.00 you are talkiing about less that $60.00 if the interest had accrued over the 5.11 yrs.

I agree with Mr. Lebensbaum, you are making a big deal over nothing. Moreover, it is going to cost you time and money to pursue this and at most you will recover interest and filing fee.
