Legal Question in Personal Injury in Massachusetts

Sledding accident

There is a 'water drainage basin' located within the property boundaries of my personal and private home.

In the Wintertime, many of the neighborhood children use the 'hill' or side of the drainage basin for sledding. Furthermore, I have a mix breed husky and golden retriever dog who likes to chase the children while they sled down the hill.

Will posted signs saying: ''Private Property'' and ''Beware of Dog'' help to minimize my liability in the event of a sledding accident or some kind of incident with the dog.

Re: Sledding accident

You should definitely post the property. You might state further that sledding is dangerous and prohibited by owner. If you know who's children are using, notify parents of dangers. If there is no fence or barrier impeding access to the "hill" you will probably have to build one in order to avoid liability for injury to one who uses it. The law would call it an "attractive nuisance" You probably knoiw that swimming pool owners have to do the same. It's for the same reason.
