Re: Life estate

If your stepmother has a life estate in the residence, then it's her home until her death -- however, she cannot sell or mortgage it without your permission. My question is whether there are other assets which should go through estate administration.

I am sorry for your loss. If you are remainderman of real estate you can find out by getting a copy of the deed at the conveying the life estate in the realty to your step mother. As to the estate you can check the county registry of probate for a copy of your Father's Will, if he left one. good Luck!
