Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

Credit card debit

I was just told by a debt collector that in the State of Michigan that once you are married you are legally responsible for your spouse's debt, whether or not you signed for them. Is this true? I have a credit card that is is my name only and I am the only authorized signer on the account, is my husband legally responsible for this debt?

Re: Credit card debit

That is an outright lie and maybe the type of misrepresentation that can result in an award of money damages to you.

Re: Credit card debit

no. debt collectors will tell you anything they can think of to scare you and/or get you to pay them. do not take advice like this from them, or any other non-lawyer.
