Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

I was sued by a hospital's Lawyer a couple of years ago for not paying on the account. It was for 18,000. I agreed to pay $ 50 a month. I have been paying on it for two years and I just found out that the lawyer is charging me intrest on it and the balance now is higher than it was 2 years ago. Can I reopen my case or can I do anything about it? I didnt pay on it from the begining becuase of the many misdiagoses and treatment while I was there. But I had agreed to pay $ 50 everymonth and I still am but my balance isn't going down, its going up? Can I do anything?

Most likely not because your time to challenge the validity of the debt is over. Once a Judgment is entered and you make payments on it you will not be able to set it aside. As for the interest, Michigan Law allows a Judgment to earn interest at either 6% or 12.99% depending on the interest of the original debt. Unfortunatly Bankruptcy might be your best option.
