Legal Question in DUI Law in Michigan

time limit on being charged as a minor driving while impaired

It has been 4 months and my daughter has yet to be charged for impaired driving. How long do they have to charge her. It is ''not in the system'' yet. Did arresting police lose the ticket to protect bar that she was served in?

If she was 16 at the time of her arrest, the ticket has to go through the juvenile division in the Lenawee County Probate Court. This takes more time than a District Court - up to 6 months or more.

You should be getting a letter in the mail directing you and your daughter to attend a pretrial hearing before a referee.
