Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Child support

My x-boyfriend did not want a child. I was believed to b infertile and still i took birth control and got pregnant. Im trying to take him to court for child support and he says he will argue that he has the right to choose if he wants to be a father and the constitutions protects his right to decide when he is ready to accept such responsibility. Is he still liable for child support payments ? Plz help.

Re: Child support

He is totally off base. If he is the father, he is responsible for child support, even if he did not want the pregnancy. William S. Stern

I'm not familiar with that section of the Constitution - ask him to tell you where it is. ;)

Either way, he did decide he was ready for the responsibility - he had sex.

Re: Child support

I have some very bad news for your boyfriend. He is completely responsible for his child. He should have refrained from having sex if he did not want a child. If you have the pleasure of the music you have to pay the piper.

Take him to court and he will find out just how much he is responsible for, 17% of his adjusted gross income plus other add-ons.

good luck.
