Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Extramarital Affair

My question is how do I protect myself legally from all financial responsibilities that my husband may encunter from having 2 kids while we are still married. I also want to know why the woman is not held partially responsible for the kids when in fact she knew just as well as him that he was married. I mean the State sticks you with the bill of having them what is he responsible for. I guess I know Adultery is a crime in Michigan so my concern is the weight should not just rely on the man. Please let me know what can be done? Do I need to get a lawyer. I mean because we have a joint account together but my payroll check is the only thing that goes in there. It has his name on there if he needs to get money.

You should retain an experienced family law attorney. The attorney will assist you in maintaining separate assets to protect yourself. In terms of your other concerns, they are best directed toward your state legislators. Lawyers and judges don't make the laws, the legislators make them.
