Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Parenting time

If my child's father has not been in her life for the past 7 years (he was in prison), has a 4th degree CSC charge, and I have harrassing phone calls recorded from him, is there a chance he could get visitation? The one time I let him take her to the movies, he lied about who was going, took her other places without my knowledge or consent, and ignored her to talk to his girlfriend the entire time (who she did not know). Would he have a chance at getting visitation? Could I ask for supervised (by someone I chose) if he DID get it?

Re: Parenting time

There is always a chance he could get visitation, but how much and whether it was supervised or unsupervised is up to the Court, and it your situation, it sounds like the Friend of the Court would conduct a thorough investigation before making a recommendation. You can then object to the recommendation if you disagree with it and have a hearing before the Judge.

I would suggest that you let him petition the Court for visitation, and if he does, immediately retain a lawyer to fight this battle for you and ensure that your case is properly presented.
