"GCR" stands for General Court Rules. The GCR were the rules that governed all court procedures in Michigan. They were changed a number of years ago and the new rules are called "The Michigan Court Rules" or MCR. Each rule has its own number. Most of the time there is a similarity between the old GCR numbers and the new MCR numbers, with the first digit from the GCR being followed by a period in the MCR. John C.
