Re: will DUI affect my status?

The DUI may not likely affect your status provided it was a simple DUI misdemeanor, and you received a short sentence -- make sure it remains your one and only, okay! I also don't believe you should have difficulty reentering the United States after a short trip to China. You may get pulled for inspection at the airport; nevertheless, it is not likely you will be referred for a secondary inspection. WIth regard to your citizenship, well, it depends. Some interviewers would consider this lack of good moral character -- but I don't believe you should have a problem. Make sure you have a copy of the disposition of the charge; and as long as it does not demonstrate something very serious (like hitting a cat while you were driving, or, god forbid, a human being), you should be okay. I would, however, make sure you have a good immigration attorney who you might call when you arrive from China IF there is any difficulty, and who can accompany you to the interview. Good luck!

Re: will DUI affect my status?

First, I need clarification on what you were finally convicted of? Impaired driving or dui? What was your sentence? If there were no deaths or injuries and it's impaired, and that is the only charge or conviction you have ever had, then you are probably ok to travel and with your green card status.
