Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan

I was hired through an employment agency, subcontracted to a school district in Michigan. I submitted my resignation to the district, who in turn turned it into the agency. The district continued to contract me through the agency for an additional few months, and I was being paid by the hour, according to the time sheets I turned in. After I finished the last job, I noticed they had been paying me my original salary (direct deposit), even after I resigned. The agency did not notice this, not stop payments (based on my old salary) until I contacted the school district, who in return contacted the agency. The agency is not demanding the money be returned to them, in one lump sum. Am I legally responsible to return the money. And, if so, do they have the right to demand full payment at once.

The agency is not demanding.....uhhh, you mean NOW demanding. If you didn't earn it, you must return it. I'd start by returning as much as you can afford. As long as they get something each time, it's very unlikely they would take further action.
