Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

Joint Ownership of property between sisters

My sister and I both own the family homestead (home and 7 acres of land). Just our names are on the deed. If I die or my sister dies, will our share of the property be transfered to our living spouse?

Re: Joint Ownership of property between sisters

If you and your sister are true joint owners, one of you would inherit the whole whole property upon the death of the other. The property would not go to spouses who are not already owners. If you are seeking a different result, proper planning is required. If you have any further questions, please contact me at www.lawgreg.com.
