Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

Sale of Home

When my Uncle passed away 6 yrs. ago he left his home to my mother & I. To protect my children in the case of my death I added their names along with mine & my mothers. Now that my mother moved into assisted living I want to sell the house and put the money away in case my mother runs out of money. My children won't sign off as they say they have rights. Can anything be done about this? I never in a million years thought that my kids would do this.

Re: Sale of Home

This is a very interesting matter which will take too long to explain in a posting. But, you can bring a claim in court to determine the rights of everyone involved. Who paid the taxes? Who lived there? Who cut the lawn? Who did maintenance? You can see my points here. Your children might think differently if faced with a lawsuit and the law against them.
