Legal Question in Workers Comp in Michigan

work injury

i have a work comp. case pending, trail date is mar. 29, 07. what i would like to know, is do i have any case against my boss for neglect ? case being, she let her work comp. ins. die on may 22, 06. i got hurt on june 2, 06. then they got a new ins. coverage on june 20, 06. now do i have any case for neglect. at first she agreed to pay me an she did for about six weeks, an then they told me no more free rides an stopped paying me. i have lost some property because of not being paid.

The directors of a business that lets its comp insurance expire are personally liable for any comp award. You have to try the case, get an award from the Bureau, wait the appeal period, obtain a certified copy of the comp award from Lansing, file suit in the circuit court attaching a copy of the certified award, go in after waiting 7 days to have the judgment entered based upon the comp award. You then have to wait the appeal period, and then have the circuit court issue a Writ of Execution and have the sheriff collect the judgment. See MCL 418.863 William S. Stern
