Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota

Adverse credit reporting

I filed bankruptcy back in 2001 it was discharged 11/2001. Last week I went to apply for a mortgage loan and saw on my credit an account from Levitz/HSBC dated chargeoff 1/05. I filed bankruptcy on this account over 3 years ago. This hurt my credit score so I am no longer able to buy a home. This was going to be an investment property and I was going to make a substantial return on this property. I am a loan officer and I have kept a close eye on my credit so I know for sure I could purchase this property. Can I sue?

Re: Adverse credit reporting

Are you taking the position that a "chargeoff" was more detrimental to your credit report than a bankruptcy?

Or that the account was not valid?

Was Levitz included in the schedule of creditors in the bankruptcy?

Obviously, more documentation is required before this question can be answered.
