Is there a statue of limitations on past debts?

In Minnesota, it's generally six years unless the debt is with regard to UCC sale of goods, in which case it's four years.

See Minnesota Statute 541.05 (six years) and Minnesota Statute 336.2-725 (four years for UCC sale of goods contracts).
