Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

Sons father contesting court order.

I have had full custody of my son since he was born in December 2002. As of March 03 we have had a court order establishing my rights and his fathers right. My sons dad is trying to pursue full custody. Is this something that we would be able to fiqure out through mediation? Or is court necessary. There are a few things within our court order that I would like to have changed as well.
