Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Minnesota

We had tenants (a husband and wife) renting a house from us in Mabel, MN. They were not very good about paying rent on time and owed us $1275 when they suddenly moved out without any notice in the summer of 2007. I tried to locate them but could not find them. I just recently found them on Facebook and I believe they live in Cresco, IA. I might even have an idea where they work. I would like to contact them to try to collect on this debt. Should I contact them myself through facebook or through a lawyer? I don't have an address for them. How much would a lawyer charge? Is there a statute of limitations on this?
