Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

I have 2 children 44 percent of the time throughout the year and we have split joint custody can I claim 1 of the children on my tax return? Or alternate both every year? I live in Missouri.

In Missouri, the child support guidelines are based upon the presumption that the parent receiving the child support gets to claim the children for tax purposes. Still, in cases where the parents agree to alternate or split the tax break, the Court can approve the agreement. Then, the appropriate forms need to be completed and filed annuallywith the IRS.
