Legal Question in Employment Law in Missouri

Listening in on phone calls at work

Yes, I just want to know if it's legal for an employer to listen in on personal phone calls, if there has been no notice telling employees that this might happen.

Thank you,

Lisa

Re: Listening in on phone calls at work

It depends on the employer's policies and what is considered a reasonable expectation of privacy under the circumstances. I would ask your employer for the employee manual to see whether or not it discusses what are reasonable expectations for employees regarding phone use. Absent more details about the particular situation at issue, it is difficult to provide further assistance. Good luck. Feel free to call should you wish to pursue this further.
