Legal Question in Personal Injury in Missouri

My brother in law wrecked his car on 4th of July due to drinking and driving. He ran his car off the road and then when he came too he got himself out of the car and hitchhiked 3 miles back home. So he got in an accident, then fled the scene. His sisters found out so they went to the scene of the accident to see the car, the police were there and were asking about what happened. The sisters told them that their brother wrecked and he went home. They wanted to talk to him but he never went and spoke with anyone, nor went to the hospital. A week or 2 later the family got the car out of the police impound. Well, the car that was wrecked was my brother in laws car, but it was in his sister's name. She helped him get the car. Now she has to go to court this month. What will happen? What does she need to do? Is there anything she can do?
