Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Missouri

I have a question as to purchase of real estate. I know if someone purchases a home with a loan in their name, they have to "transfer" ownership then to put it in another's name. If you only give cash downpayment to a home purchase, and just co-sign on a loan that is in a Granddaughter's name, can you still have a means to protect that property from a former spouse of granddaughter, that she is still legally married to ??She receives NO support from at all, legally from court or otherwise.Or Is it safe if left in the Grandfather's name only and then "left" to the Granddaughter?
