Legal Question in Insurance Law in Nebraska

Totaled car

A bad storm hit our system back in August of this year. The storm broke some big limbs from the tree in our front yard. They came down on top of my car and totaled it. I did not have insurance on the car. The car was parked and I was not driving the vehicle. I currently rent the home that I am living in and the tree is in our yard and not on city grounds. I believe that our landlord's property insurance should cover my car. I filed a claim with them and they stated that there is nothing they could do. Please let me know if there is something I can do.

Re: Totaled car

Ask the property insurance company to send you a letter explaining why they are denying coverage of damage to your property by the landlord's tree. They are liable for damage done by their insured's tree. If you cannot get a resolution with them, you should contact a Nebraska property insurance lawyer. Unfortunately, I practice in the area of injury law. Best wishes.

I hope that I have helped, answered all of your questions, and that I have provided you with useful information. Please contact me if I have not answered all of your questions.

Please be aware that my answer is not legal advice, it is merely information. You and I have not entered into an attorney/client relationship. The only way that I am legally responsible for your legal rights is if you have signed a written retainer agreement with my law firm.
