It would help to know if you are an adult for purposes of the law in the state where you reside or intend to reside. Example - Indiana says you are an adult at 18. I don't know what Nevada has to say (it could be 18, or it could be 21) to be an adult and free from parental control.

Unfortunately in the cases of colleges, most of them have their own rules and regulations as to when to treat someone as an in or out of state resident. If that is the purpose for which you are seeking to know, you must contact the school for its rules.

If you are under 18, the person caring for you must be appointed the guardian of your person to have you stay for an extended time.
