Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

marriage vehicle ownership

My wife and I are currently married, but are getting a divorce soon. The only income she has, comes out of my pocket. She recently purchased a $25,000 car, which she has no job and no means to pay for and I will not give her the money to make the payments. But she will not try to take the car back. The finance company nor the car lot will give me any information about the vehicle because it's signed in her name. Can I do anything about this or will my outstanding credit go down the drain with hers since we are still married? Can I legally gain possession of this car?

Re: marriage vehicle ownership

The divorce court would decide possession of the car and who would make the payments or whether the car should be sold. However, the divorce judge cannot modity the rights of third party creditors so you are both financially obligated on the loan until it is satisfied.
