Legal Question in Personal Injury in Nevada

vacation from Hel

While on a family vacation (Mom's Birthday) to Las Vegas, Mom was injured by the actions of a sub-contractor of a hotel. Two thirds of the vacation were spent in a hospital due to the severity of Mom's injuries. After med flying mom home, POA was given to a family member not on the trip. An attorney was obtained for Mom, but the family members on the trip were advised we would need to obtain our own attorney for any damages we incurred resulting in the accident. My questions are, how do we insure that our Mom's best interest are being taken care since the POA was not involved in the incident, how do we obtain compensation for rooms, rental vehicle and flights missed due to the severity of the situation? Any help is appreciated.

Re: vacation from Hel

1 I assume you use the term POA to mean a health care proxy. So long as mother approved person to be her agent, it is that person's responsibility to make medical decisions when you mother can't.

2. As to your trip, if you used an agent call him/her. If you stayed in a national chain, call their customer service office. This is probably a case of "the squeaking door gets oiled". Generally air lines will respond to family illness issues, but you have had to work that out before you took the return flight. Unfortunately, it is not the airline's fault that your mother was injured and your vacation was ruined. Be thankful your mother was not more seriously injured.

Re: vacation from Hel

What you need is an attorney w/personal injury experience in the locality where the injury occurred. A POA is the wrong thing to DO!
