security deposit

Land lord is keeping partial deposit due to floors being scratched. floors were not in the greatest shape to begin with. It was built in 70's floor was latte sub floor just stained.

The starting point would be for you to sit down with the landlord and discuss the situation. If you have any pictures or other evidence, share it with him. If he declines, you'll have to go to court to seek the refund of the remainder of the deposit. You would have the burden to show that you kept the property in good condition and that upon your departure it was no worse than when you got there, subject only to ordinary wear and tear.
