credit card bank keeps calling my job
I had a credit card account with a bank
in another state. They change my mailing
address and did not contact me to let me
know. after two to three months of not
recieving any statements from them i
closed the account and refuse to pay for
two to three months. now they call me
non-stop all hours of the day including
weekend days, sometimes before 8:pm and
as late as 10:pm. They have gone as far
as calling my job two to three times a
day, telling my job what they are
calling about even when my boss has told
them not to call. now my job has giving
me a verbal warning. next comes a
writeup and possible suspention without
pay. what can i do other than filling
papers against them in samll claims
court.

Your possible claims against the credit card company are complicated and therefore you should seek the experience of an attorney to handle the matter for you. Make sure that you are documenting all of the contact (the time called, the place where you are called, person who called, what was said)immediately after the call. This could help later.

You should specifically inform them NOT to contact you again via certified mail and fax. Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, debt collectors (they may be classified as such) are supposed to follow your request. Alternatively, what is the balance due and why aren't you paying it? If it is just a couple of late fees because of the changed address I'm sure you can work something out. If you owe them actual principal + interest on charges they are going to want money. They may want to work out a payment plan or bankruptcy may be an option.
