Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

I am 50 years old and had no police record until about 2 years ago. I was dating someone when she refused to speak with me after having a serious disagreement. She called the police after I made several attempts to contact her hoping to resolve the issue. Having had a terrific 4 month relationship, her call to the police was totally unexpected. Based on her complaint, I was arrested and charged with stalking. This was the end of our relationship and there has been no contact between us since. I don't believe she intended for her call to end up with an arrest because she did not cooperate with the county prosecutor's office and the charges were downgraded to harassment and sent to the local court. Likewise, she did not cooperate with the city prosecutor and failed to show up for several court dates resulting in the Judge dismissing my case. Should I consider filing for the expungement of my criminal record because of this one incident?

You do not have a criminal record since you were never convicted of anything, butyou do have an arrest record. You can file for an expungement of your arrest record. Please contact me if you are interested in discussing this further. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their legal matters. Thank you.

Sincerely yours, -Ronald Aronds, Esq.-
