Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

shopplifting

I was arrested for shopplifting 15 yrs ago. I never showed up for the hearing. How do I go about resolving that now? It happened in New Jersey and I now live in Florida.

Re: shopplifting

You have been a fugitive for the past 15 years and if you get stopped for even a traffic ticket now you can be arrested for this. You need to hire a lawyer from New Jersey to contact the court where you had the charge, get the case relisted, and get the case resolved. I am an attorney who has handled many cases similar to yours in various courts throughout New Jersey in the past. Please contact me to discuss your case in more detail. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.

Sincerely yours, -Ronald Aronds, Esq.-

Re: shopplifting

An attorney can probably handle everything for you without you even having to come up in NJ. I would need more information. Call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss.

Re: shopplifting

I have actually had situations like this for other clients.

We would first check and see if there is any open record of the arrest or charge. If so, we would get in touch with the appropriate prosecuting authority to try and work out a disposition (hopefully with out a New Jersey appearance). We would seek the lowest possible penalty depending on the rest of the facts.

We have a number of lawyers here who could assist you. Please call for an appointment if you are interested.

Re: shopplifting

You need to hire an attorney who will represent you; schedule the matter for a hearing and appear in court with you.

After fiftenn years the State will have considerable difficulty proving it's case, but there is also the matter of your contempt of court charge. You should come out it without too much injury, aside from a substantial fine, if the matter is handled properly.

Call me if you like.

Re: shopplifting

Depending on the town, you may be able to avoid appearing in NJ if you hire an attorney.

I have done these types of cases before but each town has seperate rules for appearing. You will definitely have a contempt fine which could be rather large because the amount of years that you avoided the charge
