...can police open the door to my home and walk in ...? i had dispute with neighbor who called me a f--- and i told her to go back to her country and call her countrymen a f---...she called police . i was watching the yankee game and police opened my fron door and walked in . i did not hear them knocking ...maybe 3 or 4 minutes i took to come to door . police said i could be arrested but it was ok for her to call me f---//////

It was not OK for the police to enter your property under these circumstances. However, from what you describe it appears that you left your front door unlocked. That was unwise, particularly after just having an altercation with your neighbor.

Oftentimes, when people go to the police they distort or embellish the incident. If they tell the police something that makes it appear that you engaged in harassment or were a disorderly person, you may find yourself being charged with one of these offenses and having the headache of dealing with it. It would be wise to limit your interactions with this neighbor.
