h2b to greencard

hi, can i get green card while on h2b status? i didn't work for the company who petition me, but my new employer would like to sponsor me, i only got 2 months left, i have state id and ssn, thanks

You will not be eligible to change status and remain in the US if you have an H-2B to that of a green card holder. Your employer can begin the labor certification process, but you will have to return home while the applicaiton is pending, unless you are eligble to change to another status in the US.

You might be able to change your status in the USA to remain while your application for a greencard is pending, but if you do not change status you must go back to your homeland.
