Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

Incorrect Name on Deed

I bought a house a few months ago and recently got my taxes. From these I was able to learn my name is incorrect on my deed. I need to know how to correct it. I never signed anything confirming the information was correct and therefore I want the party responsible for filing the deed to take care of this. Is this possible? Please inform. Thank you.

Re: Incorrect Name on Deed

A simple corrective Deed should be all you need. There is only a filing fee involved, no additional realty transfer fee. If you were represented by an attorney at the closing, and he messed up, he should be willing to correct it. If you missed this when you received the Deed, it was your responsibility to see it was correct. Were you an absentee purchaser? Then the person representing you has the responsibility.
