Required to bring Dr's Note

I an advocate for someone who is suffering from a sseizure disorder and has side effect from his medication.. he either had a seizure or side effect behavior on the job ... he is being asked to bring in a note saying he saw a dr /is this legal?

It is legal within the context of whether the person having the seizures is requesting a reasonable accommodation under the federal or state disability laws or some other medical excuse for perhaps inadequate job performance. The person, however, must make sure that his medical disclosure is being given under strict rules of confidentiality.
