Legal Question in Administrative Law in New York

Marriage to someone who owns and home and I am in deep debt

I have been living with a man for 10 years, he has bought a house for us to live in and we want to get married. Problem is that I am in alot of debt and I am afraid that if I marry him that all the debt that I owe will cause a lien to be placed on his house and mess up his credit. Is there anyway we can get married and all my debt doesn't cause problems for him. Thinking alot about bankrupcy.

You can enter into a prenuptial agreement wherein you agree that all pre-marriage debt, etc. is the property of the person who acquired it. You can then publicly file the prenup. Bankruptcy is always an option, of course, but the laws are changing soon on consumer bankruptcies so you need to make a decision soon.
