Re: can I file

Yes - you can. However, any creditor not listed in your bankruptcy petition will still be able to collect the money owed.

The law does not require the amount of a debt be 100% accurate, only that the creditor know and have an opportunity to protest the bankruptcy petition. (They rarely contest any petition.)

My fee for preparing your petition would be

400$. You are welcome to a consultation for no fee.

Re: can I file

If you do not know how much money you owe, and to whom, how do you know that you need to file bankruptcy?

Would it kill you to spend some time investigating your debts?

First run a credit report, you can order one online. A credit report will give you the information on all your credit card debts, plus some judgments.

Once you have eliminated the credit card debts, what could be left that you cannot remember.

The debts most people forget are unpaid medical bills, or medical bills that they believe were covered by insurance.

If you do not list a creditor, that debt will not be discharged in the bankruptcy (although this can be remedied). Therefore you should list every entity that you owe, or may owe money to. There is no penalty if you inadvertly list someone you do not owe money to.

Good Luck.
