If credit card is solely in the deceased spouse name the surviving spouse is not liable.

An exception could be if the debt involved "necessaries" of the deceased spouse such as medical care, medicines, hospitals, etc. but even then they would have to bring a legal claim.

Inform the credit card co. that the debtor is deceased and spouse will not agree to pay the debt and to stop contacting her/him.
