Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Unemployment insuranse fraud

someone I know committed unemployment insurance fraud one year and three months ago to the tune of $3200. He is very guilty of what he did. He is not sure what to do. If he tries to pay back the state he may face felony charges. if he keeps his mouth shut he may be out of danger soon. he has a family and is very distraut about the situation. Should he wait it out or take his chances with the state???

It appears the District Attorney's Office has not taken any action...yet. Waiting for them to act may be unwise. Your friend should have an attorney contact the Department of Labor to discuss restitution.
