Legal Question in Discrimination Law in New York

I am 32 weeks pregnant and was just fired from my job. I already filled out my disability paperwork. The reason was improper use of my employee checking account (a check cleared 1 day earlier than my direct deposit). I feel that is not a reason for immediate termination. Could I have a case?

New York is an employment at will state.

Accordingly, you can be discharged at anytime unless your employer discharges you based on your race, age, ethnicity, gender, etc.

You will have to show that your discharge was just pretext and that the real reason for the discharge was due to your being pregnant.

There is a possiblity that you may have a case of pregnancy discrimination. One way to tell may be your employer's eagernest to terminate you for a cause that does not appear to be a serious violation of company rules.
