Legal Question in Discrimination Law in New York

Is This Discrimination?

Can I be terminated from my job if I choose to shave my head bald. I have been working in this hotel for about 2 years, I have always cut my hair very short but about 8 or 9 months ago I decided to shave my head there has never been a problem with my appearance until they hired a new Manager that does not like my head to be shaved. I dont know if he can make me grow Hair or if it is even legal for him to make me grow my hair.I heard him say if I choose not to grow my hair i can go look for another Job. CAn he Do that?

Re: Is This Discrimination?

Nope. Sorry. We lost this one in Federal Court a long time ago. New York is a tough employment at will state. Unless you have a religious reason for shaving your head, or a medical requirement requiring reasonable accomodation no antidiscrimination law will protect you, and that is the bald truth.

So, either grow. or go.
