Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

I loaned money to my daughter and son-in-law with their promise to pay me back in full. We did not sign any agreement and I do have proof. Example: Kay Jewelerys, Dec 2012 $1800.00 engagement ring, loaned to son-in-law. No payments have been received and they are no longer talking to me. Am I out the total of $14,603? I am disabled and living on Social Security Disability income of $1,063.00 per month.

We can sue them. Whether we collect is another question. But they should still have the ring (though you're unlikely to realize the $1800 that was paid) and we can probably get a judgment, and be a serious nuisance. You can call me in the morning at 516-242-1453 or write to [email protected]
