Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

If I was getting medicaid and received money from my mothers estate do I have to pay back medicaid the money they gave me?? I am receiving a letter stating that legal action is being taken in regards to the money I received from my mothers estate.

Medicaid has, in recent years, become rather aggressive in seeking repayment of liens that it impresses.
