Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

small claims court

My ex boyfriend lived with me in my home which was in my name for a year and 5 months, during that time he gave me money for living expenses such as mortgage, food, utilties.. he also paid for a garage door which He broke originally. Now that he has been moved out for 8 months he says he is going to take me to small claims court for his portion back... can he win this case? We were never engaged, never had a written agreement.. what are my rights in Buffalo, NY

It appears unlikely that your Ex can show that he even has a cause of action.

However, If your EX can prove that he "loaned" you the money, he might be able to get a money judgment that could be enforced against you for repayment to him of the loan.
