Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

Someone is threatening me of slashing my tires and sugar on my gas tank. What legal steps should I take? I know the person and have his cellphone number and text to prove about his threat. This person bought a vacuum from me at Craigslist have been emailing for a long time about my vacuum. He test and tried the vacuum and bought it. That day he decided to return it because he said its not working right. I told him you can not return it because no warranty is given and you tried it before paying for it. This person start texting me and using profane language. What legal step should I take?

Slashing tires and pouring sugar in a gas tank are criminal acts. Therefore, I would go to the police.
