Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

immigration - criminal record

I am about to file for adjustment of status and my husband as my sponser. He has a record for petit larceny, it happened about 2 months ago. This is the only criminal record he has. Will this effect the processing of my adjustment, will they deny me because of his one time petit larceny charge? He did not go to jail or anything, just had to show up to court one day.

Re: immigration - criminal record

As long as it was taken care of, it should not affect the adjustment of status application.

Re: immigration - criminal record

Adjustment of status is a discretionary relief and a criminal record may have an impact, thus it advisable to consult an experienced immigration attorney.
