Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

Back Pay - NYC

I work for a Non-profit institution and am owed 6 weeks back pay. My employer tells me if I can't deal with the financial situation then I should seek employment elsewhere- but I have not out-and out been fired.

The organization also has not paid unemployment taxes since 2005.

What is my best recourse in this matter?

Re: Back Pay - NYC

To notify the State Labor Department and the State Attorney General. They will prosecute. It is a crime not to pay wages. A Class "A" Misdemeanor.

Good Luck.
