Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

Enforceable severance agreement?

I signed a severance agreement. along with the agreement a letter from the hr director stating my lay off was due to position elimination. I later found out they hired someone else with the same title i had!! IS the agreement enforceable being that i signed relying on the reason for layoff in the letter, then finding out that that information was incorrect and i was lied to. had I known the real reason i would have never signed!
