no excuse for dismisal; employer refusing to pay

i've been working at an optical for four months and today

i was told that ''it was my last day'' ''its up to you wether

you stay all day or leave.'' my boss didn't give me any excuse as to why she's letting me go; before i could ask her she hung up on me. and now she is avoiding my phonecalls

is this legal?

also she is refusing to pay 7hrs tha i worked on xmas eve because she says she gave me off. she never told me i had off that day. can she refuse to pay me?

Yes they can fire you without reason. No, they cannot refuse to pay you for hours worked whether they told you you could leave or not. If they knew you were working, it was for their benefit, andthey didn't stop you, they owe you. I would suggest as such.

Should you like to discuss this or any other legal matter, you can call my office to schedule an appointment for a consultation or in the alternative, I can be reached for on-phone low-cost legal consultation at 1-800-275-5336 x0233699.
