Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

I was recently let go by a major medical center in New York. They want me to sign an agreement that guarantees me an additional six weeks of pay if I promise not to say nasty things about them, or sue them, etc. I was "jerked around" by these guys for some time, but have only worked for the center since July of 2006 I don't have the $400 retainer and minimum it would cost to review my "agreement" and get proper advice on how to proceed. Is there any less expensive route?

Yes, there is a less expensive route. Question yourself: did they violate any laws against workplace discrimination (age, race, sex, nationality, disability (for N.Y., past criminal conviction and sexual orientation) or any laws that would endanger the public. If so, resubmit a more detailed question to this site or keep searching for an attorney will to give a free consultation about your possible employment or labor law claim. Good luck.
